Yesterday marked the move in day for new and returning Penn State students and in that spirit, I thought I would note a few of Penn State’s ranking facts. (Not to mention this weekend is our first football game of the season!! I look forward to another year of Joe!)
- UCLA is the only University that receives more SAT scores than PSU annually
- “The Public Ivies: America’s Flagship Public Universities, a book published by Greene’s Guides, included Penn State among the Public Ivies, public universities that purportedly offer an academic experience of Ivy League or close caliber combined with affordably priced tuition”
- Penn State has the most living Alumni in the US compared to all other Universities (in 2004 we had 423,779 living members)
- According to to U.S. News Best Colleges 2006, Penn State ranks 14th among public national universities
- Penn State has the highest number of Fullbright Scholars
- The Penn State graduation rate for athletes is 83% (compared to the NCAA Division 1 average of 62%)
- Penn State enrolls over 84,000 students and ranks as one of the ten largest Universities
- The Princeston Review reported that Penn State is the #2 “party school”
- Penn State Professor Erwin Mueller in 1955 became the first person to “see” an atom
- Penn State ranks as the #2 “college” for gaming
- Penn State ranks #1 in University ticket sales worldwide
