I was recently asked to set a goal for something in the next 6-12 months. I decided it was time…sign up and complete a 10 mile race.
Why
I love a challenge. Ask me to do 10 burpees and I will complain. Ask me to do 100 burpees and it is game on. The last few years I have focused on endurance biking (100 miles over 2 days in 2022, 75 miles in one day in 2023) and decided I needed to turn my focus to running. Running does not come easy for me but that is also part of the reason to do it. I have run 5k and 8k races in the past but the 10 mile race will really push me both mentally and physically. I also believe that actions speak louder than words and it is always important to show my kids that we can all do anything if we put in the work.
Which race?
I decided to do the Solider Field 10 mile on Memorial Day weekend to honor the soldiers who have given so much for our country. If they can fight and protect our country, the least I can do is run for 10 miles.
My training program
If you know anything about me, you know I am going to follow some sort of Peloton training program. I have decided to follow a 12 week running plan from Robin Arzon which combines running/cross training, yoga, and dare I say rest days.
I look forward to the process!
