Recently I have been playing a lot of Sonic the Hedgehog 3. It was one of my favorite games of all time and pretty much defined the summer of 1996 when I lived with a friend of mine who played that and NHL 96 with me day in and day out. I love(d) Sega and I was super excited to see they released a new true-to-Sonic- Sonic game (Sonic the Hedgehog 4 – Episode 1). I look forward to a new Sonic game with updated graphics and updated challenges. Any other Sonic fans out there that are going to get this game?

The Year I Really Started to Feel Older…
All throughout my life I have always felt like a kid at heart. I still love the simple things in life, would love to get together with my neighborhood kids to play a game of “mud gutter”, and I still feel like I am the person I was in college….except I am realizing more and more I am not that kid anymore.
This year was a big wake up call.
- I began enjoying AM radio (something I always got annoyed by when I was younger)
- I look forward to going to be early
- I wake up early
- I have three kids
- I see some of my “teenage 80s/90s stars” now as parents of high schoolers on TV
- I have very limited time available for doing things I actually want to do (golf, fishing, etc) and look forward to the day I can do that…ten years from now

- I remember my grandparents at my parent’s current age
Of course – there are also a lot of pluses about getting older, but for someone who thought they would never “grow up” – it is interesting seeing my perspective on live change.
Anyone else play mud gutter out there as well? I was the bus stop champ!
Media Mondays: PlayStation 3
I had been a huge fan of PlayStation 2 – mostly for games like SoCom II, Grand Theft Auto 3, and Madden football but when PlayStation 3 came out – I thought it was just a tad too expensive for the amount of time I would actually have time to play it.
With the recent price break – I decided to pick one up over the weekend with Madden 2010 and COD 4. While I have not even touched COD 4, Madden 2010 has not disappointed. The graphics and game play are solid and are really impressive.
PlayStation 3 overall is pretty amazing. The slim model has great design and is very quiet. The wireless remotes are gold and the actual user interface is surprisingly nice as well with a ton of options. You can completely customize the way it looks with different themes. You can download movies, games, and game demos as well which is very nice as I like to “try before I buy”. Evan really likes the Wall-E game and it is fun to watch him try and use the controls.
I also picked up the wireless headset which is a big improvement over the long thin corded headset I used with PlayStation 2. I look forward to using it when challenging friends and hopefully finding a good group of people to play with regularly with COD 5.
To wrap it up – PlayStation 3 is a solid console and I am very happy to have the PlayStation remote back in action (compared to the Wii remote). I know I did not mention anything about BlueRay – that is not all that exciting for me – as I am done buying media when it comes to movies. How many versions of the Terminator 2 can one actually own? Personally I have at least 4. Time to move towards downloaded media that will hopefully outlast these media players.
Finally Got a Wii!
Finally – I made it to a Best Buy that had a Wii over the weekend! I saw the flier in the Sunday paper that Best Buy had some in stock so I jumped in the car with Amy and E and we got there to get a “ticket” which guaranteed a Wii. So far I only have 2 games (Wii Sports and some other game that came with a second controller) but look forward to getting some more games soon. Anyone play the newest Mario?
Jappler Recommends: McDonalds' Online Monopoly Game
If there is one thing I absolutely love about McDonalds (besides their superior Coke mixture) I love their Monopoly game. I even dreamt about the game a few nights ago that I pulled off Park Place and Boardwalk from the same Coke…and won $246. With that said – the excitement of pulling off the little game pieces from my medium Coke and putting them onto the board is usually enough to make me smile. I happened to have a pile of pieces at my house (maybe 6) and decided to go online and check out their “online Monopoly game“. When I first got to the page – I was instantly frustrated. My #21 pet peeve in life happens to be sites that resize my browser window. However, after I resize it back to how I wanted it – I was blown away with the coolness of the site. I entered in my name and information, and then started to play. It was cool, intense, and well done (and my #12 pet peeve in life is overdone flash). I look forward to playing soon! If you have not checked this out – do it! (This means you Julie)
*For the most fun, wait until you have 5 pieces – each piece = roll of the dice.
back playing socom ii.
It has been at least a year – probably 2 since I stopped playing SoCom II but a few weeks Doug started playing again and got me interested again. I have to say, playing it on my new TV which is almost twice the size of my old TV is definitely nice. It is equally nice that the same old grumpy men and wannabe 12 year olds are still there to make it interesting. I forgot how much I missed listening to these 2 types of people argue – it is really pretty fun – especially when you have a headset and can add in comments. The online gaming community is an interesting one and I am glad I am back!
iPod and WordPress coolness in one day.
I came across an awesome HOWTO on getting linux and games on your iPod. Now if I just had a color screen iPod (I have gen 2).
On another note, WordPress.com now offers “VIP Hosting” which would be a great option for a few projects I am working on. Great job Automattic!

frustration station.
Frustation lies everywhere, either you find it or you don’t…I seem to find it a lot, but finally I can laugh at most of it or at least brush it off. (How many years did that take?)
First up…Metra. Boarding my express train is like a Rage Against the Machine video and Metra finally did something about it, they no longer open the first two cars for people at my stop. It finally came to that. I think the older you get, the more rage you have boarding trains, and then comment and waive your fingers at the “out of control kids”.
Second…SoCom. I love SoCom, but get over that I am a girl and that I am good. I do not want to join your clan, and do not ask me how much I weigh or my hair color. Do you think I am interested in someone who plays SoCom all day? I barely like myself! ![]()
Third we have that one person, who will remain nameless, that regardless of what others say, they always take credit. Me: I think this, that….Them 10 minutes later: Well I think this, that. Really. Thanks for playing, but unless you have a time delay in hearing and processing, I just said that 10 minutes earlier.
Is it time for a vacation? That sounds about right.
literati
I never played Scrabble until earlier this year, but I have become completely hooked to Yahoo! literati. I think part of the fun is getting the great words that happen to work such as: dui, ka, cos, coz, zee, cee, etc. The words are supposedly checked by dictionary.com so who knows…maybe it is not an english dictionary. , I am thinking we are on the verge of a new English dialect, iBonics. So if you want to learn something new, join me in a game of literati, where iBonics is accepted! Literati supports all iBonics speakers!
