Just Finished Uncharted 3

Posted by: Jen | No Comments »

Categorized: Entertainment, Games

I have been a big fan of the Uncharted series since my friend Doug gave me his copy of Uncharted 2 to test out back in October. Since then I have finished Uncharted 2 three times (am almost through on Crushing), finished Uncharted 1 once (difficult), and now – just finished Uncharted 3 (normal). I plan to start it all over again tonight on difficult. Overall – Uncharted 3 was awesome. The game play had variety, challenging logic, and a great story. While I still think Uncharted 2 is my favorite – another time through Uncharted 3 might change all that. If you have not played this game yet – give it a shot!

The Sweater I Wanted in 1990 and Today

I still spend time once a month looking to see if Contra has been released in the virtual console for the Nintendo Wii. I play Super C still regularly but would love to throw Contra into the mix. Not sure what Contra or Super C is? Either you were not gaming in the early 1990s or just truly do not understand the concept of teamwork.

A big thanks to Doug for sharing the photo!

Items on my dresser

Yesterday I walked in my bedroom and had to laugh when looking at my side of the dresser. I guess I will always be a kid at heart with my Pocket Simon, a lego version of the Sears tower, my cap gun from when I was little, my little people on their playground toys, a ceramic figurine I have had since first grade, and a football. A good deal of that stuff is usually on my dresser – but the football and cap gun put it over the top with coolness ;) Who wants to come over and play?

Sonic the Hedgehog 4

Sonic 4Recently I have been playing a lot of Sonic the Hedgehog 3. It was one of my favorite games of all time and pretty much defined the summer of 1996 when I lived with a friend of mine who played that and NHL 96 with me day in and day out. I love(d) Sega and I was super excited to see they released a new true-to-Sonic- Sonic game (Sonic the Hedgehog 4 – Episode 1). I look forward to a new Sonic game with updated graphics and updated challenges. Any other Sonic fans out there that are going to get this game?

Media Mondays: Madden 2010 for PS3

I have been enjoying Madden 2010 so far on the PS3 – but I cannot seem to figure out how to get an offense together. My defense is solid, but when it comes to offense – if I can score one touchdown – that is pretty darn good.

I am playing with my team – the Denver Broncos – and they are only rated 70 (Pittsburgh is 86+), but how much difference does that really make? Anyone have any tips? Perhaps it is too realistic…as soon as I get down in the red zone, Orton throws an interception at least 75% of the time. Ugh…

On another note, you have to love this new version…you can grab the “legacy pack” which contains old teams, historic uniforms, old fields/stadiums, and even a “classic film grain” effect which makes the whole thing look like it is old. Very slick, and very cool.

Want to play? My PS3 screen name is jappler.

This past week has been absolutely crazy. Hectic work days, a baby shower at my house, a car accident (with Amy’s $51k loaner) – not her fault, crazy deadlines, etc. I will be happy when I can just sit back and relax this evening (before the weekend chaos).

Through all of this craziness – I have to say I have been enjoying playing some online Scrabble using <a href="http://www.eamobile.com/Web/iphone-game/scrabble" target="_blank" EA's Scrabble for the iPhone with Doug using Facebook to link us together. The game can take an hour or a few days, depending on when we have time, but it is nice to just stop everything now and again and take a turn playing Scrabble. Now all I need is to find a chess game like this and Ken and I will be set!

Hurray for the weekend!

Jappler Recommends: Makeshift Wii Fit

I have always thought walking/running on the treadmill was boring. It was ever so slightly more exciting at the gym because you could get some good people watching in – but even that gets boring. The last few days I have decided to kick it up a notch by distracting myself with some Nintendo Wii action.

I was excited to get the Wii Fit when that came out – but sometimes I get bored with that too so I recently decided to put together a makeshift Wii Fit….treadmill + Wii games. Please note – you need to have good focus and balance so this is not for everyone.

I get walking at a decent pace (somewhere between 3.5-4 mph) then start bowling, golfing, and play some tennis. (Bowling and golfing are the easiest to do while walking) When I need to run – I use the Wii to read news and surf to my favorite web sites. Tomorrow I am going to try out walking slower but throwing in some boxing.

Overheard While Getting My Tire Fixed…

Yesterday while I was at a certain repair shop (not the dealership) I overheard a conversation that blew me away. I was waiting to get my tire fixed (flat) and at the parts desk, I heard the following:

Guy 1: “Did you watch the rebate last night?”
Guy 2: “You mean the debate? I watched it and man John…(pausing because he cannot think of his last name)….”
Guy 1: “McCain”
Guy 2: Yes – man, I do not trust him…he lies so much. I think I even trust the other guy Osama more.

At that point – I decided to go into the waiting area instead of looking at floor mats so I could play some Scrabble on my iPhone.

Nintendo Wii Speak Channel

The Wii is by far one of the coolest if not the coolest console I have ever owned. The one thing I do miss from my PS 2 days is the voice interaction I had while playing games. I just read about something really cool that will perhaps take care of my want for voice interaction:

This from the Nintendo news site:

The new Wii Speak Channel arrives on Nov. 16 and uses the Wii Speak, a microphone that sits on top of your television. This accessory is sold separately at an MSRP of $29.99. People who buy the microphone are given a code that allows them to download the Wii Speak Channel from the Wii Shop Channel at no charge. The Wii Speak lets people in up to four locations who have traded Friend Codes chat with one another at no extra cost. When you use Wii Speak in real time, your Mii appears on your TV screen and mimics your chat. You also can leave audio messages for your friends and family members or use Wii Speak to narrate captions for your photos.
